Aikido and Iaido relationship: The importance of proper body alignment in your training.
This video is from a Livestream that Numata Sensei gave in 2020. The entire class is excellent, but for those of you doing Body Alignment classes with me, please take special note of 20:55 - 21:58. He says numerous times, "Keep line. Keep line.", referring to the yellow/red centerline. He's reminding us to always maintain it and not cross our feet over it.
He also clearly demonstrates the placement of the back foot and you can see the impact that the position and transitions have on his center.
Enjoy!

Have you ever woken up the day after a great class, only to find that your back pain has flared up again? Or that your knee is swollen?
Or maybe you just feel like your stuck on a plateau - that your technique could be more effective, but you don't know what's missing.
If you identify with any of these, you'll gain a lot of insight from this video.
From his dojo in Japan, my dear friend and sempai, Numata Sensei, utilizes "shadow Aikido" and Iaido to take us through movements that we use in our standard Aikido techniques all the time.
But he goes into great detail, pointing out common flaws in our alignment that often cause problems for us - if not now, years later, when these movements have become habits.
Enjoy!
