AIKIDO: Extension Exercise to be applied to Tenchinage

Do you sometimes have challenges with Tenchinage? There are many possible reasons. One is that Sometimes our lower hand is too tense or not low enough and that can give uke stability, enabling them to stay grounded and not fall.

Today’s video is another from our New Year’s seminar in Los Angeles a couple months ago. In the video, I ask participants to stretch their lower hand low and forward like a blade slicing horizontally. We then shift that extension downward for the next technique, which is tenchinage. I find this helps students extend that lower hand, making execution of the technique easier.

I hope today’s video will give you some insight, inspiration, and motivation to help you make the most of your training and take your Aikido to the next level.

Let’s check it out.
