AIKIDO: Kokyu Ho from a standing position (For those with knee pain)

Do you sometimes have challenges with Tenchinage? One possible reason is that sometimes our lower hand is too tense or not extended enough and that can give uke stability, enabling them to stay grounded and not fall.

Today’s video is another from our New Year’s seminar in Los Angeles a couple months ago.

One of the participants was a beginner and clearly had some knee pain or stiffness. He was trying his best to do kokyuho in seiza. I came over and showed him how to move his core and still get the same lessons from the exercise from a standing position.

I hope today’s video will give you some insight, inspiration, and motivation to help you make the most of your training and take your Aikido to the next level.

Let’s check it out.
