Martial Arts Teacher Training: Make your classes intense but safe to develop your dojo community.

So many dojo-cho are talking about how to attract more young people to their dojo - people in their 20’s and 30’s. Some people say we have to show the martial effectiveness of Aikido. Others say we have to cross train and use elements of other martial arts in our classes.

Well, right now the average age of my adults program at my dojo in Los Angeles is 30. And the oldest student is 41.

What I hear time and time again from my students is that one of the reasons they continue training with me is because they can count on going home with a very sweaty dogi at the end of each class - with no injuries.

In today’s video, I’m going to talk about one of the 4 Pillars of my Teaching Philosophy. And that is to make each class intense but safe.
