Mastering Ikkyo: Unlocking Arm Strength with Strategic Entry

Ikkyo, a fundamental technique in Aikido, sometimes presents the challenge of encountering strong resistance from uke's arm. At our recent Aikido Summer Seminar in Los Angeles, we delved into a unique approach to ikkyo that focuses on entering the space beneath uke's arm, rather than attempting to move or bend the arm itself.

During the seminar, participants witnessed the significance of entering the right spaces in executing ikkyo effectively. This concept was demonstrated with the help of a shoto, providing visual clarity on where these spaces are and how the entrance lines can be drawn underneath uke's arm.

Join us in this video to gain valuable insights into mastering ikkyo through strategic entry. Discover how harnessing the power of proper positioning can lead to successful techniques, even when facing strong arm resistance. Elevate your Aikido practice and take your skills to new heights with this unique perspective on ikkyo.
