Takeda Yoshinobu Shihan: All Japan Aikido Demonstration
This is one of my absolute favorite videos of Takeda Shihan's demos. It was filmed before I arrived in Japan in 1987. I'm guessing it would have been filmed in the late 70's or early 80's.
As it relates to our study of body alignment here on this website, it's fascinating and impressive to see how Takeda Shihan's posture doesn't falter at any point, despite the dynamic and intense energy.
Another important point is that I've trained with the men taking ukemi. I can tell you that they are not easy to move! Their ukemi is very heavy and grounded, making them feel like they each weigh a ton!
Pay attention to Takeda Shihan's posture and alignment as you watch the video.
Enjoy!
